Bath Rugby’s Game Changer – Girvan Dempsey

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

Girvan Dempsey is the game changer for Bath Rugby as per Jason Robinson. Dempsey is the new attack coach of the team. He is all set to join the coaching team at Farleigh House especially after he helped the Irish province achieve the European Champions Cup as well as the Guinness PRO14 doubles. Dempsey has been a part of the senior coaching team of Leo Cullen for three consecutive years and fills the role left by Tabai Matson for personal reasons last year.

The team did face hardships in the Premiership campaign of 2017/18 and qualified for Champions Cup. It’s indeed a big relief to know that big things are expected to take place with the entry of Dempsey, who was the former Ireland International. Robinson says that it’s a game changer and hopes to see Bath doing its best with the addition of a new coaching team. He is quite confident that Dempsey will put systems in place and feels that the new coach is phenomenal. He will certainly make an impact and ensure that the team goes higher in the table unlike previous seasons. Bath Rugby is a big club and will soon be in the Premiership Rugby finals. The club is ambitious and will come back stronger in no time.

Bath Lock Attwood Wants Squad Rule Over Big Guns

Friday, October 17th, 2014

Bath lock Attwood (Dave) has said that the club shouldn’t end up as just “also-rans” against the dominant teams of Premiership this term.

The Rec rugby outfit just ran riot in the game against Leicester Tigers, sealing a fantastic 45-0 triumph last weekend.

Bath would be traveling to Franklin’s Gardens come Saturday for a match against reigning champs Northampton prior to meeting Saracens, the runners-up in the last season.

“We wish to exert good West-Country dominance all through the Premiership”, stated the 12-cap English second-rower”, stated Attwood. “We wish to match-up & say that we wish to come up on top. While we review this season, we will depend on these fixtures to judge ourselves. We aren’t gonna sit by & think that we have lost out on 3 or 4 to big guys yet we performed well. We wish to be right on top, we are not exactly interested in just being the also-rans.”

Bath lost out to Harlequins at the play-offs on the final day of regular season last May, in spite of spending majority of campaign in top 4. Sarries finished right on top table followed by Saints who were further followed by Leicester & Quins. Post their disappointing conclusion to domestic season this year, Bath also lost out on Amlin Challenge Cup finale against Northampton .However, it seems that Ford’s team have come up with quite a blistering start this current rugby campaign, beating London Welsh & Sale prior to running in 5 tries against the Tigers.

However, Dave, who is presently in the 3rd season with the famous rugby club, insisted that they wouldn’t get swayed away by past weekend’s performance.

“We have not achieved anything till now”, Attwood continued.”It is really humbling to experience the great response we have received from our supporters. This means huge.”

Argentina Rugby looking for better performances to cheer about

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Argentina Rugby is slowly coming of age but they are still looking for their first win in the Rugby Championship. Although the team has put in strong performances in the past and managed draws yet the win has eluded them till date. The Pumas are yet to win any test series this year as well as they went down to the Six Nations champion Ireland and Scotland respectively in their past two encounters. It will be a stiff challenge for the Argentina Rugby team as the countries like South Africa and New Zealand will be ready to flex their muscles in the Championship. Every team is taking this completion more seriously than before as this is the perfect stage to practice before the World Cup that is going to be held next year. The closest the Argentines came to victory was in their 16-16 draw with South Africa at home in 2012. The new Argentine coach Daniel Hourcade feels this shall be a great chance for their players to prove their worth on the big stage.

Argentina Rugby team is lead by Agustin Creevy who has enough experience in South Africa. This will come in handy for the team along with the experience of their coach who was in charge of the Pampas when they played in Vodacom Cup of South Africa. Martin Landajo and Thomas Cubelli will also provide the much needed experience to the team. Leguizamon , Lobbe and Ayerza are the other players with enough experience in the world class level. Argentina’s first game will be against the mighty South Africans. The South African coach Johan van Graan is aware of the strength of his opponents in the next fixture and has refused to take them any lightly. He mentioned that his team will strive to play to its full potential in order to win.

New and improved plans for the Bath Rugby Club

Monday, August 11th, 2014

The Rugby Union giants, Bath Rugby club received a new impetus ahead of their campaign in the next season. Their plea for increasing the capacity for their stadium has been approved by the authorities who will help the home team to be supported by a huge crowd of about 14000 during their campaign. This decision has been taken to celebrate the 150 years anniversary of one of the most prestigious and oldest clubs in the world of rugby. The club had been a formidable force in the eighties and nineties when they had won a number of John Player Club and Courage League titles thanks to their all star line up. There was a huge gap between the 1998 season Heineken Cup and the 2008 season European Challenge Cup although the club continued to evolve as a force to reckon with over the years. Yet the stadium existing in the club’s home ground was not up to the premiership standards. Thereby a number of professional consultants and architects were hired by the club for a complete renovation of the existing stands. The group of experts had decided to re-construct the west stand and the northern terrace along with a removable east stand and an extension of the south stand. But the execution of the aforesaid plan depended on the Bath and North East Somerset Council who were supposed to grant the permission for construction work. This happened very recently much to the joy of the fans, officials as well as the players associated with the club. With everything going on their side Bath club shall be looking forward to a spirited performance from their team in the upcoming season especially at the back of a very unlucky and disappointing venture the last time around due to the paucity of trophies.

Bath Rugby playoff chances will be boosted by win

Tuesday, April 1st, 2014

Mike Ford, the head coach of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club Bath Rugby, believes a win for the club against the Sale Sharks in the Premiership would give their play-off prospects a major boost.

Bath won 44-23 against the London Irish in a brilliant display last Saturday but with the Sale Sharks winning against fellow play-off hopeful the Northampton Saints, it means that there are still six teams that are capable of making it into the play-off semi finals of the Aviva Premiership.

The former rulers of the English game before the advent of professionalism still have a seven point edge over the Sale Sharks and the competition could be completely killed off if they can beat the side from Manchester at home this weekend.

Should the Sale Sharks manage to upset the odds and beat Bath Rugby, however, they will be right there in the mix for a spot in the playoff semi finals and this could make things very interesting going into the final four games of the regular season.

And according to Ford, this represents a huge game for both the club and if they manage to clinch a win, then they will be a bit more secure about their position in the top four while for the Sharks, it represents a chance to close in on the top four and have a real go at the top four sides.

Ford also mentioned that Sale will have a lot of confidence going into this match against Bath Rugby having beaten a side that has remained in the top two throughout the season and they will also have the momentum on their side. However, the match is at The Recreation Ground and Bath has a tremendous record there and will look to keep that fantastic record.
